George Rivers is a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor. He graduated from Texas Tech University majoring in Sociology with a concentration in criminology. He went on to obtain a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Texas at El Paso. He has experience working with at-risk youth and in a psychiatric hospital setting at an inpatient and outpatient capacity. He works with individuals of every population; however, he best works with children, adolescents, and young adults.
George believes that a strong client-counselor relationship is essential for the client’s success. He recognizes that by being genuine, empathic, and nonjudgmental the client can make positive changes. His work with clients is both client lead and collaborative. George uses a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), solution focused therapy and reality/choice therapy.
